Explaining the truth in a broken system.
The intention is to educate+empower pet parents about some of the most dangerous normalized aspects in Pet Health by bringing truth to light and providing healthy, natural and holistic alternatives - so that our furry loves can live well into their 20s & 30s!
I invite you to listen to this Season with an open mind, eyes, ears, and hearts. The truth can be hard to hear at times or harsh to some but it remains the truth.

Dr. Tom Lonsdale, a Veterinarian also known as “The Whistleblower Vet”, joins us to explain the inner-workings of the Pet Food Industry. An industry he calls a “multi-billion dollar pet food fraud hiding in plain sight” - and he wrote two books about it!
Throughout Season 1 and Season 2 of THE HOLISTIC FELINE & FRIENDS PODCAST, you will hear myself and Guests talk about this topic here and there weaved into our conversations. However, I thought it was fundamental to the health of our furry loves and to the education of pet parents to dedicate a full episode to it! Really dive in, provide a one-stop-hub with all the information - so you, the pet parent can know the whole story fully. No holds barred conversation. Dr. Tom lays it ALL out there. Once you know, you know, and my hope is that it will inspire one to embark on a healthier journey for their pets; not turning a blind eye or deaf ear upon it.
In this episode we talk about his book, Multi-Billion-Dollar Pet Food Fraud: Hiding In Plain Sight - it "explores the ways in which ‘junk pet food’ manufacturers are fueling a global pet illness pandemic through the promotion of highly processed pet food. The book reveals the unscrupulous tactics pet food manufactures use to dominate the market in the name of profit and their efforts to ‘control the science’ through governmental lobbying and university partnerships, despite being abundantly aware of the harmful effects of their products.” {source: thepetfoodcon.com}
He has called this a “global epidemic" for decades now and it has only grown in velocity and magnitude. Affecting everyone in its path - from pets, to pet parents, to aspiring and established vets… this pet food fraud affects us all!
The bottom line, these BIG manufacturers do not have your pets health, nutrition, or best interest at heart. It is solely profit over pet, a strategy keeping our pets sick.
Dr. Tom gives you all the deets, spills the tea, and blows the whistle!
He is a Veterinarian who has over 50-years of experience in the field and who first suspected that an industrial diet of highly processed commercial pet food could be causing a wide range of serious health issues for dogs and cats in the late 1980s! He has been blowing the whistle and fighting for the health and proper nutrition for our pets since the early 1990s!
Now here, in 2026 - 35 years later - will we begin to listen?
Can we change the paradigm?
We both believe we can, if we listen - and if we make the necessary change.
Knowledge is power, we hear this all the time, yet it truly is. Let us all do something powerful and positive with this knowledge.
Toward the end of the episode, we touch on a story about one of his furry clients Duchess - who changed his life, perspective, and his practice. This story is powerful and can provide solace to fellow Veterinarians who may walk Dr. Tom’s familiar path. May it inspire introspection, clear a troubled conscience, and fuel a new start within souls and veterinary practice. An inspiration and invitation to introspection and new beginnings.
We are both hopeful for the future.
