S1. E3. Discussing Cancer in Pets: Creation, Prevention, Holistic Intervention.

Welcome to the POD BLOG! Where we take pertinent information discussed in each episode of THE HOLISTIC FELINE & FRIENDS PODCAST and link it all in one place!
Each Podcast episode has a corresponding blog post!

This episode along with episodes 4, 6, and 9 are dedicated to my soul-kitty, my mini-me and best friend Monkey Bean who I lost to small-cell intestinal lymphoma in August 2017. She is the catalyst behind it all - the creation of
‘The Holistic Feline’- and the source of my passion for holistic pet wellness and species appropriate nutrition.
Monkey continues to guide me in all that I do. We’ve been on this educational journey together for just about a decade and it is my mission to share our story and the knowledge learned with the World from the highest of mountain tops for all to hear! The thought.. “when we know better we do better” is my ultimate hope.
| TIP: Read blog post - ‘My Journey To Proper Feline Nutrition’ - for Our Full Story. An autobiography on my heartfelt painful journey to proper feline nutrition. My greatest lesson in life every cat (and pet) caregiver should know.

In this episode I speak with Dr. Kendra Pope, Board Certified & Integrative Veterinary Oncologist. She is notably one of four in the country and quite possibly the world - a true pioneer in Integrative Oncology.
| FACT: The word integrative means combining allopathic/conventional therapies and complimentary/ holistic therapies to make them more effective to achieve a desired outcome.
I wish I knew of Dr. Kendra Pope in 2017 when Monkey Bean was diagnosed, however since we are unable to go back in time and do things differently, all I can do is educate others to help shape their future and in hopes prevent Our Story from becoming your story.
We discuss Cancer in Pets (& people!): creation, prevention, and holistic intervention.
She brings the reality of what cancer really is, how it is created in the body, the simple ways to help prevent it, and holistic solutions on how to treat or hinder its growth. We also speak about a hidden yet huge contributing factor that can lead to the creation of cancer - emotions!
In addition to the plethora of information within the episode, Dr. Kendra Pope also shines a light on two huge aspects: cancer prevention vs. detection and primary cancer prevention vs. secondary cancer prevention. Hint: they go hand-in-hand!
"Cancer does not grow in healthy soil. Period. Keep the Soil Healthy" - Dr. Kendra Pope.
Cancer is a disease that has touched almost every life on the planet either direct or indirect. It is a disease that unfortunately is prominent in our pet & people communities.
A topic that holds an array of emotions and a tragic outcome for many.
Let's shift the paradigm.
May we all learn together what I wish I knew then!
| TIP!: LISTEN to Episode 4 with Julie Anne Lee DCH, Founder of Adored Beast Apothecary (ABA). She shares her newly profound findings in canine (& human) cancer research carried out at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia. We also talk about ABA’s new groundbreaking product that is changing the game in cancer prevention and support. Read POD BLOG: Julie Anne Lee, DCH for all the amazing entities and products mentioned within her episode!
| TIP!: Stay tuned for Episode 6, another heavy hitter on species appropriate nutrition with Dr. Nick Thompson, Holistic Veterinarian and Founding President of the Raw Feeding Veterinary Society. All health begins with diet.
"With just diet, 40% of cancers are preventable.” - Dr. Kendra Pope.
Monkey Bean I miss you every day of my life without you. I love you infinitely and thank you for your love, lessons, guidance, and life together. May our journey never end… 🤍
